What a Senior Designer will be doing:
• Based on established company design standards and guidelines, deliver high-quality creative results that achieve branding objectives; direct and design current and new published products on schedule.
• Collaborate with key staff to establish, communicate and maintain current design standards, as well as create and develop design concepts for new publications that encompass and extend design standards.
• Present ideas to key staff to gain their confidence; work directly with senior-level staff in outside departments to complete projects.
• Collaborate with Creative Manager and team to balance individual and collective creativity; innovate better work flow practices inter- and intra-departmentally
• Continuously develop and use creative and technical skills and knowledge
• Monitor design process of internal production staff and freelance designers, providing Creative Manager with feedback as needed.
• Conduct company university training sessions to further enhance knowledge of design and production practices used by internal production staff and freelance designers
• Maintain, assess usability and supervise the creation of new document master templates to solidify production and design standards and support training objectives

An IDEAL candidate will have:

• 5-10 yrs exp working at an ad agency, corporate advertising or publishing environment, preferably within the medical/scientific/research industry.
• Experience with offset press supervision is ideal. Must have an understanding of papers, inks, packaging, and multimedia specs. Will frequently draw from experience with 4-color printing to develop new product mockups under tight deadlines.
• Must be a STRONG Mac user; significant expertise with InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of web and multimedia applications desired.
• Must possess a proven ability to create and delegate design of published pieces using the above software. Thorough understanding of informational layout and typography skills in all applications listed above.
• Communicate, verbally and in written form, effectively, quickly and on-time. Ability to sketch ideas on demand. Demonstrate diplomacy under pressure. Able to receive and deliver strong feedback and concepts in brainstorming sessions.
• Visually and verbally “creative and clean�. Intuitive, critical thinking. Ability to communicate useful and unique perspectives on the publishing process. Approach problems in a solution-oriented, customer-service manner.
• Attention to detail: Must possess an obsessive eye for detail and demonstrate the ability to evaluate completeness of any individual job.
• Outstanding personal and professional organization. Flexible with rapidly changing business conditions. Able to prioritize potentially conflicting deadlines. Receptive to feedback from many sources. Excellent stress management skills.
• Excellent business presentation skills. Able to communicate concepts quickly and effectively to executive level and those without creative vision a must.
